ObjectiveTo improve the teaching effects and meet the needs of clinical nursing and nursing teaching, we applied Constructivist Theory, Instructional Design Theory and Cooperative learning Theory in the teaching of the complications of trans-nose intubation and trans-mouth intubation, then made and used multimedia courseware and simulation scenarios to test these new teaching methods. Methods1. We done instructional design based on curriculum and lesson plans, then we made multimedia courseware and simulation scenarios stressed on the key and difficult knowledge.2. 117 undergraduates of Grade 2007 used Computer Assisted Instruction; 60 undergraduates of them received simulation teaching.3. The teaching effects were compared by questionnaire investigation and evaluation before and after the instruction experiments.Results1. General characteristics The undergraduates composed of 99 (88.4%) female students and 13(11.6%) male students, the average age is 21.32±0.80 (19 ~ 24).2. Outcomes of theoretical examination The grades'differences of the theory are very significant before and after the instruction experiments(t =13.72, P﹤0.01; t =6.84, P﹤0.01; t =9.26, P﹤0.01; t =6.46, P﹤0.01).3. Results of questionnaire investigations 84(75.7%) students considered that the multimedia courseware have some advantages, such as direct, vivid, comprehensive, concise and effective. What is more, it was more helpful for increasing students'interests studying and learning efficiency than before. As to the simulation teaching, more than 47(78.3%) respondents commented that ECS was useful for developing the abilities of management, interpersonal communication, patient care skills, collaborative teamwork skills during a crisis situation. 47 (78.3%) students thought that this simulation teaching could enhance their confidence in clinical nursing in future. 54 (90.0%) students hope that their will be more similar simulation teaching.Conclusions1. The multimedia courseware and simulation scenarios we made helped students acquired the knowledge of nursing both in theory and practice in a short period.2. They were helping for stimulating students'interests and initiative in study, the teaching methods should be applied widely.
