Chu Song, was a popular folk song in south area of China from Pre-Qin Dynasty. It originated from Country Chu, spreaded among nationalities that lived in South China.Referring to Pre-Qin books and records, the dissertation carries out an all-round research on three parts, (1) Chu Song's status in Pre-Qin Dynasty, (2) Chu Song in Han Dynasty and (3) Chu Song influence in literary history. The chapters introduces legends from ancient times and the sprout of Chu Song scattered in ancient codes and records, illustrates the development of Chu Song from Spring and Autumn period to the Warring States period and describes its prosperous peak in Han Dynasty. Chu Song was of strong local features, showing romanticism, perseverance, self-esteem and tragic Characteristics of Chu nationality. The main expression style of Chu Song was using "Xi" in sentences, sounded moving, sorrowful and stirring.Chu Song was a literary style good at emotion expression, it pushed forward the poem development with its unique literal style and strong humanistic spirit, impacted the music style of Chuci and Yuefu poetry, it enhanced the development of new ancient poem language style (the three speeches, the five speeches and the seven speeches). Chu Song linked the poetry from Pre-Qin Dynasty to Yuefu in Han Dynasty. Until today, Chu Song is still sparkling in poems field.
