As an American-Chinese woman writer, Maxine Hong Kingston has the deepest feelings about American-Chinese living conditions; she uses literature to account it. When creating, Kingston does not write in a dull, flat style, she adopts various approaches, to multi-dimensionally reveal American-Chinese living conditions.Maxine Hong Kingston is provided with high literature attainments. After analysis, we can find in her works that images abound, genre is complicated and techniques of expression vary. On one hand, Chinese myths and legends are alternative utterance of American-Chinese living conditions. Kingston makes good use of them and recreates, as the metaphor of American-Chinese living conditions. On the other hand, Kingston imitates the objective and concrete performance of history with the form of autobiography, to record the most real side of American-Chinese living conditions, delivering a strong sense of reality. In addition, apart from material and physiological level, Kingston goes further. She dissects American-Chinese spiritual world and psychological status, sets brand-new American-Chinese image and probe American-Chinese cultural identity.At macro level, we focus on American-Chinese living conditions in Kingston's works, grasp her creation path overally; at micro level, with feminism, American Dream and other theories, we interpret her works, and excavate her creative motivation. At the same time, we compare Maxine Hong Kingston with other American-Chinese writers to reach their discrepancy.
