Hiding Everywhere is a famous pipa military tune in Chinese traditional music. In the essay, I compare the different oscillographs of the music—Hiding Everywhere played by Mr. Liu Dehai, who is the representative of the four string pipa and Mr. Fang Jinlong, the representative of the five string pipa. The former music is edited from the software Gold Wave made by the digital audio frequency technology. Contrasting the ordinate axis with the abscissa axis, we can find, regardless of being in the ordinate axis or the abscissa axis, the performance's oscillogram of the five string pipa must be more extensive and denser than the four string pipa's oscillogram, which results from the fifth bass string of the five string pipa, whose body is the thickest, so the residual sound is the longest. Therefore, the five string pipa has the superiority in the performance of the intensive scene. Through the comparison, I think Mr. Fang Jinlong's performance can display the imposing manner in processing the military tune thanks to the fifth string. However, although Mr. Liu Dehai's performance of the four string pipa does not have the imposing manner of the volume, it obviously has the superiority in the expression of the comparison of the strength and the weakness. This has highlighted the tense feeling during the bilateral battle. The five string pipa is prominent in imposing manner, while the four string pipa highlights strength. Therefore, the two have certain difference in the acoustics.
