Ethical View On Network Crusade

Network crusade is an inevitable result of the development of Internet in modern society with the help of social background and technical conditions, which has played a supervisory role to the society and condemned bad morals. This "crusade" spirit is necessary to maintain social justice in the society with little morality and little sense of responsibility, and in a certain extent, it played a role of promoting good and restraining evil, as well as supervising the morality. As a special form of network behavior,network crusade develops from scratch, which is open to the public, wide and virtual, and it has formed its own characteristics—condemning, supervising, multidimensional, interactive and transient.Network crusade plays many effects on the society and individuals. On one hand, it plays a positive role on the society, which condemns immoral conduct, supervises social morality and public authority, and helps the vulnerable groups through public opinions, which is a complement to traditional relief; and on the other hand, network crusade has certain moral crisis, which will lead to negative effects. On one hand, there is no effective gatekeeper for network information, and its difficult to keep the authority and reliability of the information, which will lead to credit crisis; second, different levels of moral awareness and deviation of moral reasoning will lead to doing the wrong things with a true heart; third, condemn on immoral actions will result cumulative frustrations on the actors, which will result in possible violence; fourth, condemning and supervision of network crusade need information collection and spreading, which could go against person dignity, privacy and other rights and even constituting an offense to the law.The development of network crusade requires social norms, virtual space information dissemination must be constrained by real rules, and principal actors and management actors of network crusade can not do without self-discipline and supervision by others. One hand, mandatory of network crusade and absolute technical control of network crusade go against moral rules, which needs to be solved by ethical means; the other hand, we should establish legal moral system to define which should not be done; establish some organizations to propaganda moral systems and indoctrinations, so as to internalize them into the moral standards of moral actors; define freedom activities network crusade within the constraint of moral activities, so as to play its positive effects.
