The Study Of Dynamics Of Context Based On Theory Of Coordinated Management Of Meaning

Context is an important notion in the pragmatic research and it plays an important role in the production and interpretation of utterance. As the thorough research of context, more and more scholars begin to pay attention to the dynamic study of context. The dynamic study of context becomes the trend of context study. The dynamic study of context regards context as the product of a communicative process during which participants can actively construct context for production and interpretation.Language users can actively construct, manipulate and reconstruct context to produce and interpret utterance meaning to reach their communicative goals in the dynamic process of communication. The study of dynamics of context is of great significance in the foster of communicators'communicative competence and the promotion of communicators'contextual awareness. The study of dynamics of context based on theory of CMM is meaningful to the management and coordination between human beings.The dissertation adopts the Contextual Reconstruction of theory of CMM as the theoretical framework and proves the dynamic of context from the constructive view. The dissertation makes analysis of dynamics of context mainly from three aspects: utterer's manipulation to the contextual factors; interpreter's choice to the contextual factors and the coordination between utterer's and interpreter's context. And the dissertation also probes into the application of the dynamics of context. The dissertation employs case study with a logical reasoning as the method. The cases of research mainly come from the daily life conversation. The cases are reliable, representative and authoritative: some cases are from English original manuscript of linguistic works used to prove point of view of contextual reconstruction; some cases are attained by observing life and personal life; some are from the actor's lines of the famous English movies. Through the investigation, we find that the relationship between context and language expression is interactive and changed together. The interference of context on the language use is just one hand; On the other hand, in the dynamic process of communication,speakers not only follow principles to make their own communication accord with appropriate language elements,but also make use of all kinds of linguistic and non-linguistic means to create all appropriate language environment to reach their communication goals. The dynamics of context can be seen as the dynamic interactive process between utterers'and interpreters'negotiation and coordination. Communicators can use the dynamics of context to coordinate the relationship between human beings. Theory of CMM based on communication possesses great potential in aspects of excavating rules of interpersonal relationship and study the rules of dynamics of context.
