"the Treble Worlds" Of The Renaissance

The Renaissance, which established by Peking University students, sprung up during "the May 4th Movement", greatly promoted enlightenment thoughts and literature revolution, and was paid much attention to and positively responded to by many young students, therefore it was fiercely attacked by fossil feudal forces. But it was strongly affirmed and supported by the initiators of the new cultural movement, such as Cai Yuanpei, Chen Duxiu, Hu Shi, Li Dazhao, Lu Xun, and Zhou Zuoren.The paper intends to focus on "the treble worlds"—thoughts, learning, and literature of The Renaissance with textual analysis, and from the aspect of enlightenment meaning to capture the spiritual essence and to present the richness and complexity of The Renaissance, then evaluates its historical role in thoughts history and literature history. Moreover, the paper intends to deepen the thought to the intellectual value orientation of "the May 4th Movement".Firstly, in "the thinking world" of The Renaissance, from three perspectives of equality, "destruction/construction" thinking pattern and the young students'traits, the paper analyses the thoughts traits of The Renaissance, which are to advocate people to self-liberate, destruction as important as construction, and to focus on society and life, and holds the opinion that The Renaissance deepened and promoted the enlightenment. Secondly, in "the learning world" of The Renaissance, this paper generalizes the basic characters, points out two specific characters—conversation method and comparative method, also points out that The Renaissance explored an academic way to change Chinese thinking mode, spiritual world, and traditional literature. Moreover, the paper affirms the unique meaning of the active exploration in "learning-save-the-nation" by The Renaissance. Thirdly, in "the literature world", from the aspects of the vanguard of language reforming, the awareness of literature researching, and the pioneering work of literature creation, the paper evaluates The Renaissance interim place on the history of modern literature.The Renaissance developed as thoughts, learning and literature. It set out serious and profound thoughts of intellectuals in "the May 4th Movement", represented by Fu Sinian and Luo Jialun.
