Shadowboxing and I-go are both the outstanding representatives of Chinese traditional culture. From the external performance, these two differ a lot in move and still, but essentially, they are closely connected, that is inevitable relationship and similar developing track. However, in practice, shadowboxing practitioners attach importance to health care and the meaning of their offensive and defensive combat often overlooked, people mostly learn shadowboxing missing the essence. I-go exists the phenomenon of paying attention to skill and looking down on theory as an independent study. No one make an analogy between shadowboxing and I-go. In fact, shadowboxing and I-go are different approaches but equally satisfactory results and show infinite mystery. Based on the essence features of shadowboxing and I-go, this paper is treating the change of attack and defense between shadowboxing and I-go, and anatomizing their internal rules and common character by literature, expert interviews, comparative analysis and so on. With a view to further highlight offensive and defensive changes of shadowboxing and I-go, we can guide their movement and the practice. The results prove that the theories of shadowboxing and I-go contain the core of "Yin and Yang". No matter from the movements and hand slap of shadowboxing, or from the actual competition of I-go, you can find the change of "Yin and Yang". Attack and defense is a concept coming from "Yin and Yang", which is also the essential performance of martial art. The move and still, strength and softness, quick and slow, feint and real from the "Yin and Yang", all exist in the changes of attack and defense, and become the main parts of attack and defense. During the process of attack and defense, shadowboxing and I-go show changes all without exception via move and still, strength and softness, quick and slow, feint and real. Attack and defense invert mutually, applying the "Yin and Yang" opposing theory in the fight of shadowboxing and the competition of I-go. So you can find not only the changes of rival, but also the ones of our own side. The crux of winning in shadowboxing and I-go is to seize an opportunity and create the best chance under predominating the internal change rules of attack and defense.
