Research On Method For User Interface Design Of Children's Websites

The theme of this paper is UI design method of children's websites. Nowadays the internet touches on all aspects of Children's activitivies, like study, entertainment, making friends. Sometimes, it is the internet that encourages or helps them try something. However, some children's webs have usability problems, like unclear navigation, lots of ads or words. All of these have some negative effects on children's using it. The most reason for this is that web UI doesn't fulfill the children's expectation.In order to change the current situation, based on the theory of human-computer interaction and industrial design methods, the article analyzed the elements of web UI from the children's standpoint, using the psychology, art, usability and other subject knowledge. Then we brought forward some design principles for the user-friendly children's website. By means of comparing two different UI design methods, which are used widely in the corperations, this article summarized the advantage and disadvantage of each method and brought forward a new design method for the UI design of children's websites—children's scenario-based cyclic iterative design method.This method emphasizes on the user research at the beginning, and need UI designer try any possible ways to understand the users all-around, such as teacher, parents. Because children are very special, with limited cognitive power they cannot distinguish things. Secondly, children's scenario-based cyclic iterative design method attachs importance to the design section. By creating the lo-hi and hifi prototype, designers start testing the the usability of web UI smoothly.At the end of the paper, UI design of Chuying children's web in China is taken as a example to verify the method's practicability and feasibility. By using this UI design method which emphasizes kids research and iteration, the usability object and user-experience object will be fulfilled effectly. Children's web UI become more easily to control, and also present affinity and be easyly accepted by children, offering them the happiest experience. This method probide some guides for UI designers, which will improve their work efficiency.
