Color sort technology is a sort of effective separation skill used in quality detection and classification of granular material, with multi-fields technologies as optics, electrics, and mechanics, is widely used in industries of food, pigment and so on. But at present, color sort equipments in the domestic market are mostly expensive imported products, the domestic technology has fallen behind the one abroad, therefore, the development of a new type of inexpensive and high-quality color sort method is of great significance. The SOPC technology is to design embedded system based on FPGA. To develop color-sort detecting system with SOPC technology, the detection would be more accurate and faster. The main research includes the overall program design of the color sort detection system, the SOPC platform design, the color sort algorithm and the system implementation of it. The main results of this study are shown as bellow:1. The design program of the color sort detection system based on SOPC is introduced. First,the process and the development of Color sort technology domestic and abroad was analyzed, the research significance of the new color sort detection system was summarized. Second, the overall program was introduced and the program content has been elaborated. Third, the SOPC hardware platform of the system was designed in detail, the data flow was showed and the system debug was processed.At last, some related technical knowledge was introduced.2. The image acquisition module of the detection system based on CCD was designed. Our system use the linear CCD and the ADC chip to get the color sort image. The module includes the time design of the CCD and AD chip and the program implementation based on VerilogHDL. After, the module was designed to be an IPcore, prepared to add into the SOPC system.3. The color sort algorithm was studied. According the particles features from the CCD images, the image data algorithms was presented, including the pre-processing and identification of two parts. Preprocessing algorithms including distortion correction algorithm and the filtering de-noising algorithm; recognition algorithms, including color recognition algorithm and shape recognition algorithms.4. The system implementation of the color sort algorithm was studied based on SOPC technology. First, the completion of the hardware program of all the modules of the color sort algorithm based on FPGA; Second, the IPcore design of the algorithm module.5. The color sort result was tested. Using SOPC hardware platform and the Nios software to build a complete detection system, simulate the CCD images to do the process, the we get the color sort result. The experiment verified the design, analyzed the shortcomings of the existing designs and provided a basic information for the next optimization.
