The report on Wenchuan earthquake witnessed the historic breakthrough of Chinese TV media. TV practitioners not only represented to viewers an organic combination of information openness and sense of obligation of journalists, but comprehensively developed the ability of news broadcasting. Relying on its advantage of 3D communication , TV media reported the whole process of the unfolding disaster with objectivity, comprehensiveness and real-time covering, trying to maximize its influence in major events.An important reason of the success of the earthquake report in general, is the frequent usage of emotional and explosive news features in the live broadcasting. This new sort of coverage improved the broadcasting in terms of topic selecting, editing, producing and timeliness, and fully demonstrated the advantage of the close-up. By means of TV features, viewers would be able to reach the process of the news, the inner emotion of the newsmakers, and the portray of the news scenes with a deeper, finer and better scope. However, systematic research on news features in China remains undeveloped.Above is the whole context of the writing of this paper, which studies about 100 pieces of news features broadcasted by CCTV during the Wenchuan earthquake. By quantitive analysis, qualitive analysis and document summary, it touches on the definition, assortment, reporting skills and development of TV features, and reveals the current problems of the development of the TV features, as well as suggestions. At first, this paper briefly summarises the advent and characteristcs of news features, and makes the definition of TV news features by means of comparison to tranditional features and analysis of the current technical environment.Secondly,It analyzes the wenchuan earthquake news feature on cctv(quantity, length etc.), and It applies charts and curves to describe the report scene of the TV feature, furthermore It generalises the category of the TV feature. Thirdly, It discusses the specific reporting methods of TV feature in terms of topics selecting, narration and news constructing. Finally, It lays out the existing problems of TV feature and its solutions, which is based on what have been studied above; in addition, It prospects the future of TV feature at the end.
