With the emphasis on the protection of industrial safety is becoming more, the types of devices used for industrial safety protection are also increasing, and the performance of the devices are higher. The scanner designed for industrial protection is the recent emergence production. It can be applied in a lot of field such as protection and measurement.In this paper, the prototype of laser scanner is designed. By the designing of the lens, the mechanical structure, the circuits and the program, the preliminary design of the prototype is completed. The paper highlights include improve of the receiver circuits, design of transmitting lens and receiving lens, and improve of digital filter.By the improve of the trans-impedance amplifier, the bandwidth increasing to 35MHz, and the light signal can be amplified at the gain of 95dB. The calculate of the beam to ensure the structure of the lens to achieve reliable reflection signal. The digital filtering results will be more stable and increase the speed of reflection to meet the need of measurement. Besides the improvements, the power management of the prototype and the program of the controller are also better. The function of each module has been verified by experiments, and the stability, linearity, different reflectivity and scanning experiment have been done. The results show that the precision of the prototype is 8cm, the maxim measurement distance is 7m. The prototype can be controlled by computer, and it can scanning the environment surrounding and makes response when people into the protected area. The prototype met the design requirements.
