WiMAX (World Interoperability for Microwave Access) is based on the IEEE802.16 standard OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency division multiple access multiplexing) technology, which in the throughput, latency, spectrum efficiency, smart antennas have many advantages. At present it can provide better service than wide-area wireless data service, and many of the next generation 4G wireless data technology may evolve to OFDMA and all IP-based network to provide an ideal economic wireless data services. Truly broadband speed is expected over other wireless network so that the public recognition. WiMAX today has become a broadband wireless network standards, universal connectivity will make the version a reality. The paper describes the WiMAX network technology, network applications, network security and reliability, and market position and prospects for development and it faces the opportunities and challenges. By highway wireless hotspot access verification, confirmed that the use of WiMAX technology to organize and improve the existing monitoring system, can be used on the highway conditions, safe operation, charges, the scene of the accident for no blind spot monitoring, can be an excellent way to raise work efficiency.
