As a newborn thing, SNS social websites has been advanced rapidly in a short period in recent years. It has been enjoying great popularity due to its specific interpersonal mass communication mode characterized by real-name registration system. Its unique setup of groups, classes and interesting team meets the needs of precision marketing in the era of audience-segmentation communication. The emergence of SNS is great revolution in traditional internet communication, which has significant value in information transmission, creating new communication space as well as marketing.The research and discussion of SNS in academic circle often focus on features and values of communication, audience research, instead of on profit model. The research basically remains on network advertising which is widespread as well as virtual value-added services.During the consulting of relevant documents I've found that the competition in SNS market is severe and characterizes homogenization. From portals to professional web, to personal web, there's more and more SNS websites in segment market. Judging from current situation, it's hard for them to identify a clear profit model. The core problems that SNS business has to tackle are to taking benefits of their potential, choosing suitable marketing strategies, and transforming concepts into profits. The success running of any SNS website relies on its profit, so finding out reasonable and feasible means for SNS under the general problem of profit obstacle has a significant meaning.This paper studies the development, features, social functions and running situation of SNS websites, analyzes how these websites attract and keep users and make profits. This paper also dose research on characteristics, current situation, profit model and obstacles of Chinese SNS websites and suggests new methods and ways to solving all these problems. The author wishes to put forward effective methods for Chinese SNS websites through analysis in details and in-depth research.This paper combines data studies and case studies. It generalizes the communication features of subject investigated and works over the profit channels of SNS websites as well as their development, running situation and profit models. The author tries to analyze the running situation and profit obstacles of Chinese SNS websites through the theories of viral marketing, e-commerce, word of mouth marketing and opinion leader, so as to providing a solution to the problems; the paper also discusses the possibilities of new profit models such as social marketing schemes based on consumer experience, community e-commerce, user-involved word of mouth marketing, and cooperation with mobile communication, hoping to provide some suggestions for Chinese SNS websites to make profits.
