With increasing international competitiveness, China not only acts as a most vigorous district which attracts the investments from the countries over the world, but also becomes the most concerned foreign direct investment resource. With gradual implementation of the strategies of foreign investment, China participates in economic globalization and international division in higher level and larger range. Under this background, theoretical research and positive analysis in china's foreign direct investment, especially in studying the status quo and characters of China's foreign direct investment while China is a home market with great potential and a developing country in the period of economic transition, not only can help to judge the tendency of China's foreign direct investment and decide how to choose investment zone, also can enrich the relative theories of foreign direct investment. The research can also enhance China's international economic competitiveness and status as a great nation. Furthermore, it also has practical value in accelerating integration into the global economy. This thesis has collected a large amount of data, striving for seeking and using the rule of selecting zones of foreign direct investment in our country and in the world, in order to realize maximum rationalization in carrying out the rules of selecting zones. Firstly, this thesis packs up and reviews the theoretical and practical research results of selecting zones of foreign direct investment at home and abroad. It also emphatically summarizes more influential theories of selecting zones of foreign direct investment. Secondly, it investigates the characteristics of the present status, size, zone distributing and forms of investment of our country's foreign direct investment. It discusses the existent problems in the present status and the qualitative and quantitative analysis of Chinese enterprises' foreign direct investment. Thirdly, it points out the matched requirements of selecting investment zone for three types of enterprises with different investment motivations, with exploration into FDI motivations and logic relationship between zones selecting. Fourthly, it statistically analyzes the relative data of our country's foreign direct investment, and establishes the clustering quantitative analysis of fuzzy interval, then conducts the optimum section clustering analysis by taking account of many factors in foreign direct investment. It can find out the rules in our country's foreign direct investment and answer the questions such as "where is our country's direct overseas investment" "how to make a foreign direct investment".Based on the theory and positive analysis of selecting zones of FDI which orientated on motivations of companies'investment and based on the present level of economy development of companies'FDI in our country which has overcentralized situation, this thesis adopts the strategies which can gradually realize diversification and omnidirectional distributing directions. It can fully use the advantages of comparison and competition, so that international markets can be exploited in all dimensions and international resources can be used by multiple channels. But all dimensions and diversification do not mean to invest everywhere and averagely. It should emphasize key points as well as give attention to the generals. According to the research in this thesis, our companies' strategies on selecting zones of foreign direct investment should be following rules:orientate on Asia and the developing countries in Latin America; pay attention to the investment in developed countries and areas; actively and cautiously develop investment in countries of CIS and eastern Europe; in the meantime, seize the chances and reasonably exploit direct investment business in underdeveloped countries and areas of Africa.
