Xinjiang as China's important energy storage base is the key area of the western development strategy in the national implementation. Over the last decade, the coal consumption amounts of 60.95% of total energy consumption in Xinjiang. The coal-based energy structure in the future is changed fundamentally for a quite long period. Therefore, from the perspective of the efficiency of coal use, selecting the object of the efficiency of coal use, by using interrelated statistical analysis method, we research and analysis the overall efficiency of coal use and its influencing factors in Xinjiang's industry. Combined with findings of the study, we propose the energy-saving recommendations for the future development of Xinjiang. The main research status is as follows:Firstly, using the comparative analysis, we can see that the industrial sectors play an important position in the whole of coal consumption in Xinjiang.Secondly, using the cointegration tests and Granger causality test researched GDP and coal consumption of industrial sectors, the conclusion is a two-way causal relationship.Thirdly, using the cluster analysis method,31 industrial sectors were divided into three categories according to coal consumption in Xinjiang. It will pave the way for the further study of the efficiency of coal use in industry.Fourthly, through a comparative analysis, we can find that the intensity of coal consumption in Xinjiang's industrial sector is more than that in Xinjiang, which is more than its national average. The conclusion indicates that improving the efficiency of coal use in Xinjiang's industrial sectors has a lot of space.Fifthly, using the logarithmic mean weight divisia method, we found:(1) to reduce the intensity of coal consumption in Xinjiang's industrial sectors is mainly affected by structural factors. By contrary, the efficiency factors contributed to increase the intensity of coal consumption. (2) Three levels of the overall change in the intensity of coal consumption, the inhibition from strong to weak is the sectors of low coal consumption, the sectors of the moderate coal consumption and the sectors of high coal consumption, which are not conducive, to improving the efficiency of coal use. (3) By analysising the intensity of coal consumption in three levels sectors, we can find that the sectors of high coal consumption have the large space to reduce the intensity of coal consumption; the sectors of moderate coal consumption are in decline about the intensity of coal consumption; the value of structural factors in the most sectors of low coal consumption is less than zero.Sixthly, the impact of the intensity of Xinjiang's industrial coal consumption is researched by the principal component regression method. The study finds that there is a backlash to the intensity of Xinjiang's industrial coal consumption by the proportion of engineers in workers, funding for scientific and technological activities, purchase of equipment and instruments, electricity generation of efficiency of energy procession and conversion, natural gas accounted for the proportion of total energy consumption, and heavy industry accounted for the proportion of total industrial output value.Lastly, according to the above research conclusion, we put forward some policies and recommendations to improve the efficiency of coal use for Xinjiang's industry, for example, scientific and technological progress and technological innovation, the adjustment of industrial structure, developing the industrial sectors of low energy consumption, supervision and law enforcement and so on.
