Rizhao Port Development Driven Effect, The Hinterland Of The Economy

With the economic globalization and our entering WTO, the port and the port city are playing a more important role in the regional economic development. As one of our country's coast main hub ports, the port of Rizhao has become an important propelling force for the economic development of the Rizhao City and even the Shandong Province. Along with the Shandong Province's constructing the Shandong Peninsula high-tech industrial belt and the processing and manufacturing industrial base, planning for the development of peninsula city group, as well as the Qingdao's moving its strategic center towards the west, the Rizhao's port economy will certainly plays a more prominent function in the Shandong Peninsula economy and even in the national economic development. In this new situation, to research the level of development of the Rizhao port and its impelling function to its hinterland economy has an important real meaning.After reviewed the relative references home and abroad and on this basis, this paper first discusses the interactive mechanism between the port economy and its hinterland economy, then analyzes the economic effects of the port economy to its hinterland economic development, discovering the port economy leads the regional economic development through the port economy's multiplicator effect, near the port industrial colony's accumulative effect, the circular economy's demonstration effect, the optimizing effect to the area industrial structure and the layout, as well as the promoting effect to the regional economic integration.With the theoretical analysis, simultaneously on the basis of the analysis of the basic situation, the development course and the advantage and disadvantage of the Rizhao port, then this paper, using co-integration theory and the granger causality test, performs empirical tests of the relation between the level of economic development of the Rizhao port's and the hinterland.
