Wap Business Development Business Model Research

The development of telecommunication industry is a key factor in China informationization. Compared with traditional voice business, value-added service is the senior phase of the telecommunication industry development. Accordingly, its development status is the symbol of China telecommunication industry. As one of the most important application in telecommunication value-added service, WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) is surely attracting more and more attention.WAP combines personal mobile communication and effective access to a series of information, which breaks out the position restriction of internet information and realizes the connection between people and network anywhere and anytime. Based on the research of the foreign WAP developing mode, this paper uses the strategic link analysis to study telecom operators' WAP websites and free WAP websites. In addition to that, it gives emphasis on production structure, income pattern, trade pattern and marketing pattern. Moreover, the paper puts forward that establishing stable industry value chain and brand production system is good for WAP development..The paper is arranged as follow:Chapter one is introduction which mainly states the background and purpose of the paper. Chapter two introduces WAP status in China, such as the notion, characteristics, value and development. Moreover, this chapter analyzes "two & half route" and explains WAP development in China. Chapter three talks about the theory of commercial pattern and proposes two starting points of WAP: operators' WAP and free WAP. Based on the theory of commercial pattern, chapter four compares the two commercial patterns, summarizes respective characteristics and remaining problems. Furthermore, it also presents a groping research about the optimal commercial pattern for WAP development in China.
