"Use comparative advantages and solve the three problems about countrysides, agriculture and farmers"is the crucial strategic choice of our socio-economic development. The most important thing is play the resource advantages and cost advantages of the rural labor force, expand employment channels, and increase the income of farmers. With the market-oriented reforms, the rural labor force transfer to off-farm industries constantly. Maximizing the expansion of off-farm employment of rural labor has become an important topic for government and academia.Jiangsu province has a high off-farm employment level of farmers. The paper would take Jiangsu Province as an example to do an in-depth research on farmers' off-farm employment. The paper analyses the characteristics and the influence of farmers'off-farm employment. It could not only offer a decision reference to the sustainable development of farmers' off-farm employment in this province but also be beneficial to that in other provinces of our country.Based on the random sample survey of Jiangsu, the paper analyses the influence of human capital on the off-farm employment and wages income. Concretely, the paper researches on the influence of human capital on off-farm participate time, the influence of human capital on off-farm area, the influence of human capital on wages income. The paper mainly uses empirical study. The OLS model is used as main analyzing tools.The paper consists of six chapters:Chapter One"Introduction"describes the study's background and significance, framework and content, key question. This part also expatiates on the definition of the human capital and off-farm employment.Chapter Two is"Summarization of the Study". This part makes a review of the influence of education, training and health on off-farm employment.Chapter Three analyses the characteristics of rural labor human capital, off-farm employment.Chapter Four has an empirical analysis about the influence of human capital on off-farm employment. Then it makes regression on the determination of off-farm participate time and area of employment. Chapter Five has an empirical analysis about the influence of human capital on wages income. With the method of OLS estimate, it studies the important roles of human capital in wage income.In the final part, based on the analysis results, the paper gives certain advice concerning to promoting development of off-farm employment.
