Retrial Of The Existing International Monetary System, Under The Background Of The Dollar Devaluation

The reform of the Present International Monetary System (PIMS) is not only a probing activity among different countries, but also the demand of the world economy development. Since 2002, for different reasons, the US dollar has depreciated a lot. Because of the importance of the US dollar in the PIMS, its depreciation has aroused the worry of the people in the world; at the same time, it has influenced the evolution of the PIMS. Under the situation, therefore, probing the future direction of the PIMS can enrich the PIMS in theory and help solve some practical problems in reality.The literature, which is about the US dollar and the PIMS, to some extent, has bias. Based on the literature, with the methods of induction, deduction and comparison analysis, the paper detects the research focus from present economy situation, then analyzes the problems deeply, finally gives some suggestions about the reform of the PIMS. The structure of the paper is as follows:Chapter 1 has documented the literature. From the documents, the author thinks about some questions: what's matter about the US dollar? How the PIMS to act? What about the disadvantages of the PIMS under the situation of US dollar depreciation? How to change the situations? And so on.Chapter 2 discusses the related questions about the US dollar depreciation deeply. The author gives some detail reasons about the depreciation of the US dollar. Then the author discusses the huge influences of US dollar depreciation, for example, the influence to America economy, other economy districts, even the PIMS.Chapter 3 first analyzes the characteristic of the PIMS, then probes the problems of the PIMS under the situation of US dollar depreciation.Base on the thinking about reforms, chapter 4 gives the reasons that the Regional Monetary Integration cannot solve the present problems. Therefore, the author gives one solution to deal with the dilemma, which is to establish the new order of world economy as the Bretton Woods system. Finally the author presents some suggestions for China to face present situation.
