From The Development Of Artificial Currency Of Special Drawing Rights And European Currency Unit, The Founder Of The Asian Currency Unit

I started from the history of the Artificial Currency, and defined the Artificial Currency in my discussion, which are the Official Artificial Currencies including the Special Drawing Right (SDR) and European Currency Unit (ECU). Based on the essences of currency, I recalled the development path and discussed reasons for their success and failure, as to find out the lessons for the set-up of Asia Currency Unit (ACU).During the discussion in this paper, the writer started from the traditional functions of currencies and got to the conclusion what prerequisites the artificial currency should meet. That is (1) acceptability of members; (2) stability of value; (3) cooperation of members. Then I discussed the lessons for ACU to prove the conclusion and got to the conclusions on what should be the positioning and ACU's potential functions in the Asia region's current development.
