In the 1st part, it introduces the history of MRP evolving into ERP and the outline of the ERP usage in China. In the 2nd part, under the background of container terminal industry development, the author analyzes the problems which obsessed SECT in the fields of non-terminal operation. In the 3rd part, you will see the reason why SECT adopts the IFS and the main difficulties for SECT to apply IFS. The statistic tells us that only less than 40% companies would fully succeed in the ERP implement. The main reason for those who failed lies in lacking enough estimation of the difficulties of ERP on line in advance. In the 4th part, the author also gives a brief introduction of the material distribution and equipment management in SECT after IFS take in effect, and reviews the process of the IFS going on line. Finally, the benefits of the IFS implement are shown by providing many solutions either for solving the original problems or for enhancing the management, as well as the suggestion for the further improvement of the IFS in SECT.
