Dynamic Relationship Of The Import Trade And China's Economic Growth

The impact of foreign trade on economic growth has come into an important issue in the academic research area for a long time. But many studies are concentrated on the influence of export on economic growth and ingnore the contribution of the import, neither do the academic research. However foreign trade includes both export and import. It is necessary to research the effect of import on economic growth. Based on this situation, this dissertation attempts to utilize the growth theory and trade theory to explore how import affects China's economic growth.The reasearch methods as follow:First, this dissertation investigates the impact mechanism of import on economic growth through five aspects--- break the constraint of supply, ease trade friction, promote industry upgrading, stimulate technological innovation, and the negative effect.Second, first do the statistical analysis on the relations between import trade and economic growth through five aspects---the corelations between import and the total GDP, the compare between import growth rate and GDP growth rate, the import elasticity, the contribution degree and pulling rate of import to economic growth.Then use the Cointegration, Vector Autoregression an Vector Error Correction Model technology to study the inherent relation between the import trade and economic growth from three perspectives---total volume, import structure and import mode.Finally, accordingly propose recommendations a modest expansion of import, to optimize the import structure, enhance the management of processing trade, take supported policies and construct an open-style appropriate policy of trade protection.
