Objective: To investigate whether helicobacter pylori of genetic diversity have the association with coronary heart disease, especially whether the virulent strains bearing cytotoxin associated gene-A were associated with coronary heart disease. Methods: Serological status for CagA and helicobacter pylori were determined in 961 cases of coronary heart disease and in 561 population based control subjects free of clinical coronary heart disease. And we analysised the correlation between the concentraton of CagA and the stenosis stage of coronary artery, and compaired the rate of Hp-seroposivity between CHD and controls. Results: The rates of helicobacter pylori were no significant difference between controls and coronary heart disease cases(P>0.05). And also there was no significant difference between the concentration of CagA and stages of coronary heart disease (P>0.05). There were no correlation among CagA and the risk factors of coronary heart disease (P>0.05).Conclusion: There was no association of chronic helicobacter pylori infection with the risk of coronary heart disease. Especially, CagA bearing strains also were no associated with the risk of coronary heart disease. Helicobacter pylori may not be a risk factor for coronary heart disease. |
