In this study, we observed and compare the effect of white tea, green tea, dark green tea and oolong tea on blood glucose, insulin and fat of KKAy diabetic mice, discuss the possible mechanism and want to give the experimental basis for tea in the prevention and treatment of type 2 diabetes. This paper includes two parts:review and experimental study.Review includes" the Overview of the hypoglycemic effect of tea"and" the Overview of the anti-obesity and blood lipid regulation effect of tea".All resent relevant literature of the hypoglycemic, anti-obesity and blood lipid regulation effect of tea are documented, we summarise the progression about how dose tea work on diabetes and hyperlipidemia.Study:Objective:To observed and compare the effect of white tea, green tea, dark green tea and oolong tea on glucose and lipid metabolism in KKAy diabetic mice. Methods:KKAy diabetic mice were fed with high calorie diet divided into control group, white tea group, green tea group, dark green tea group, oolong tea group, and the C57bl/6J mice as a negative control. After 8 weeks, glucose and lipid metabolism, the insulin sensitivity, pathomorphology of pancreas, the expression of insulin on pancreas were observed. Results:①After eight weeks treatment with white tea, polydipsia and urinary symptoms, glucose tolerance, weight gain and FPG were significantly changed. Blood fat and Fins levels were decreasing, insulin sensitivity index was increased. HE pancreatic tissue staining showed that white tea can effectively reduce the degree ofβcell degranulation and vacuole degeneration, keep the shape and numberofβcell. Pancreatic tissue immunohistochemistry results showed that the white tea can obviously increase the expression of insulin in KKAy mice.②The effect of white tea was similar to green tea, and better than dark green tea and oolong tea. Conclusion:White tea and green tea can improve the glucose and lipid metabolism in mice, and prevent the pancreas from damage, delay the failure ofβcells. The mechanism might promoteβcells to repair, but it needs a further study.
