Objective:To observe the protective effects and mechanism of Youshi capsule on visual function of high intraocular pressure(IOP) animal models with different IOP.Methods:Anterior chamber perfusion was adopted to make acute intraocular hypertension animal models with different IOP.A week before and 7 days after the models had been made,Youshi capsules, which have the function of promoting blood circulation to dissipate blood stasis and improving vision, were successively irrigated into the stomaches. 24 model eyes were divided into 4 groups according to IOP (6 eyes each group) and compared with 6 among the other 24 normal eyes. IOP,flash electroretinogram (F-ERG) and oscillatory potentials(OPs) were examined during the experiment and retinal ganglion cells(RGC) were counted. Also,Aqueous homor endothelin(ET) was measured.Results:(1) Different intraocular hypertension models of 40,60,80 and 100mmHg can be obtained;(2) The amplitudes and latencies of b-waves and OPs were prolonged and decreased somehow. Besides, some OPs of 80mmHg and b-wave and OPs of 100mmHg were died away. Youshi capsules were effective for prolonged amplitudes and decreased latencies and they were most effective for the 40mmHg group;(3) Youshi capsules have protective and improving function on the RGCs of rabbits. They have the effect of preventing the RGCs from apotosis. Conclusions:Acute intraocular hypertension animal models with different IOP can be obtained with anterior chamber perfusion;Youshi capsules can improve microcirculation of the fundus and visual function.
