Accompany with the rising living level, the esthetic demands for dental prostheses are enhancing in recent years, simple PFM restorations could not fulfil the clinical needs any longer. All-ceramic materials are superior in biocompatibility, abrasion-tolerance and esthetic properties to traditional restoration materials. Therefore .developing new types of ceramic with better mechanical properties, employing new processing technique to improve properties of existing ceramic or making up the intrinsic deficiency of ceramic by applying compound materials are undoubtedly the main researching directions.Newly developed alumina glass-infiltrated ceramic differs significantly with traditional all-ceramic materials in inside texture(more than 75% pure alumina, less than 25% glass). Accordingly, whether the effective ways of surface conditioning for regular ceramics are also valuable for this newly developed alumina glass-infiltrated ceramic in obtaining satisfying bonding strength deserves research. In order to find an appropriate method of surface conditioning for this newly developed alumina glass-infiltrated ceramic and eventually improve the bonding strength, the Super-Bond C&B dental pure-resin bonding system was employed. In this article, effect of different surface methods on bonding strength of glass-infiltrated ceramic to dentine were investigated; the surface texure of species under different conditioning methods was observed by EMS; the bonding strength of glass-infiltrated ceramic to dentine was also evaluated applying different kinds of adhesive in common clinical use. The results were shown as below:Using the same Super-Bond adhesive, the highest bonding strength can be obtained by combining the mechanical polishing, sandblasting and silance treating4together; while simply etching the surface of ceramic can not improve the bonding strength compared with controlling group.EMS observing showed that the enamel layer of this newly developed alumina glass-infiltrated ceramic could be lessened befittingly, the fresh surface therefore exposed and the holes on the surface deepened and widened applying the polishing and sandblasting method. While applying etching method using HF could only induce the lose of glass-part on surface and loosen the surface texure of ceramic, favorable diameter and depth of the holes could not be obtained.Under proper conditioning method the bonding strength of glass-infiltrated ceramic to dentine showed no significance between applying the regular Bis-GMA resin adhesive for all-ceramic bonding including EB, Vita Cerac and Calibra and applying the resin-improved-glass ionomer. The clinical bonding strength were satisfying.
