Objective: To study the effects of XIAO CHAI HU TANG (XCHT) on tumor angiogenesis and erythrocyte immune function in mice implanted with sarcoma s!80. Methods: First, the mice model of S180 solid tumor was duplicated. Then by the quantitative determination of FVIII桼A and VEGF and employing red blood cell (RBC) C3b receptor-yeast rosette test and red blood cell-IC rosette test , the actions of XCHT on tumor angiogenesis and erythrocytic immune function were analyzed. Result: 1 the small-dose(P<0.01) and the medium-dose XCHT(P<0.05) significantly pressed the growth of Sarcoma s!80; 2 All of the 3 dose-groups of XCHT can suppress the production of VEGF significantly(P<0.05); and the MVD were significantly decreased in the small-dose group compared with the model group(P<0.05). 3 Compared with model group, ERC-C3b were significantly decreased(P<0.01) in the medium-dose and small-dose groups and ERC-IC were significantly increased in the medium-dose group(P<0.05).Conclusions: XCHT can inhibit the growth of S180 solid tumor and tumor angiogenesis significantly ; But it can result in secondary erythrocyte immune function of tumor-bearing mice simultaneously.
