The present thesis focuses on the inverse scattering theories and their biomedical applications, especially on detecting the breast tumor at its early stage without any invasive injury to the human body. The main content of the paper consists of five chapters, which will be discussed in detail in the following list:Chapter 1: The history and the latest trend of the optical (direct and inverse) scattering theory are presented, as well as the significance and the aim of this research project. Then the application of the light and the ultrasonic wave in the biomedical tissue is outlined summarily.Chapter 2: This chapter starts with the action of light with tissues. The basic definitions of the important quantities in the transport theory and the basic differential equation are presented, as well as the transport equation is obtained. Secondly, the diffusion approximation is appropriated and the diffusion equation (another important equation) is derived from the basic transport theory above for tissue media. At last, the property of the propagation of the ultrasonic wave in the biomedical tissue will be detailedly talked over.Chapter 3: A new method called DSF-DOT (delta sound field and diffusion optical tomography) applied in the breast tumor is firstly put forward. Localization of a breast tumor and reconstruction of one breast tumor image are realized by using such a method. Then the work of non-invasive detecting of tumor boundary and the boundary precise of tumor reconstruction is successfully done in succession.Chapter 4: A method to measure the optical-sonic coefficient η of bio-tissuesin DSF-DOT will be presented, which is the beginning of the research on the structure of a δ sound.Chapter 5: The summary of the previous work and the plan of the work in the future are presented as the end of this thesis. The methods and the results presented in the thesis could be widely applied to the study of the invasive biomedical image, the atmospheric weather, geophysics and chemical engineering.
