There are many reseach show that needle the point on DU meridian canimprove cognitive function, but no report on treating cognitive impairment of schizophrene.Acupuncturecanregulateenergyandbloodof14channels,enliventhebrain,elevateyang,soothethenerves, reinforce brain and marrow, improve memory, can do great action in psychiatric clinicespeciallyontreatcognitiveimpairment. This study purposed that electro-acupuncture baihui (DU20) and shenting (DU24) to observethe efficacy of treat cognitive impairment and schizophrenia with electro-acupuncture DU meridian.51 patients were arranged into the electro-acupuncture group (25 patients) and thenon-electro-acupuncture group (26 patients). After analysis of the index as PANSS, CGI, HAMD,HAMA,TESS,WMS,WCST,DST,thefollowingconclusionsaremade: 1. The schizophrene has cognitive impairment. Electro-acupuncture can be benefit of memory,especiallyforlong-courseandshort-coursememory,butnotinstantmemory.Electro-acupuncturecanbebenefitofWCSTscore,netscaleandspeedofDSTaftertreatmentweresignificantlyhigher. 2. The efficacy is different between the electro-acupuncture group and thenon-electro-acupuncture group. There is no significant difference on cent and cent reduce rate ofPANSS, and is significant different on cent of positive symptoms and negative symptoms.Electro-acupuncture can be of benefit to negative symptoms but disbennifit on positive symptoms inschizophrenia. 3.ThereisnosignificantdifferencebetweentwogroupsoncentreducerateofHAMD HAMA.Acupuncture is of no benefit to anxiety and depression in this research, and maybe result insleeplessnessofschizophrene. Sum up: Treatment with electro-acupuncture select Baihui and Shenting points belong to DUmeridian can be of benefit and disbenefit on schizophrene. It is helpful to cognitive function ofschizophrene, increasing memory, attention and perform function, but low efficacy to stability ofAbstract Vattention. It is better that Baihui and Shenting points cooperate with the point on Yin meridians orextremities in treating cognitive impairment of schizophrene with electro-acupuncture. Theconclusion is not consistent with the other study,because of the different method and great difficulty in study with schizophrene.Need to improve the estimation and prolong the period of treatment,keep onresearching the effect of acupuncture with DU meridian or non DU meridians on cognition function.
