Objective:To observe the clinical effect of Chinese herbs (Xiangshaliujun Wan) therapy on malnutrition in continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) patients, probing the impact of the comprehensive treatment on the CAPD patients. Methods:(1)60 cases of CAPD were divided into Qi-deficiency type and Qi-Yin deficiency type, and then randomly divided into two groups: Therapy group(30 cases) that treated with Chinese herbs (Xiangshaliujun Wan) therapy for 3 months and control group(30 cases) that treated with rutine western medicine. All the patients in two groups were added with high protein diet and given to sufficiently dialysis. Therapy group (including 15 cases of Qi-deficiency and 15 cases of Qi-Yin deficiency) was added with Xiangshaliujun Wan (3.0g po tid). There were no differences in sex, age, the time of dialysis between the two groups(P> 0.05).The treatment time was composed three months. (2)The symptoms, signs, dietary energy intake, dietary protein intake and nor--malized protein nitrogen apperance was observed before and after the treatment. The malnutrition degree was evaluated in all patients with subjective global assessment. Comparison was done between the two groups.(2)The symptoms, signs, dietary ener--gy intake, dietary protein intake and normalized protein nitrogen apperance was ob--served before and after the treatment. The malnutrition degree was evaluated in all patients with subjective global assessment. Comparison was done between the two groups. (3)Observing the change of blood urea nitrogen, serum creatin, albumin, he--moglobin, urine urea nitrogen, urine creatin, urine protein, dialysis protein in patients before and after treatment in order to compare the curatine effects.(4)Comparison was done between the two groups to observe the change of every target in patients before and after treatment.(5)Comparison was done between Qi-deficiency type and Qi-Yin deficiency type to observe curative effect and change of every target in patients before and after treatment. Result:(1)With comprehensive clinical analysis, the efficiency(90%) of patients in the therapy group was significantly better than that(33.3%) in the control group(P<0.01). (2)In the therapy group, HGB, ALV, DEI, DPI, nPNA was obviously higher after treatment(P < 0.01).In the control group, serum hemoglobin was higher after treatment(P<0.05). HGB, ALBm DEI, DPI, nPNA in the therapy group was obviosly higher after treatment than those in the control group.(3)The nutrition improved in the therapy group and was obviously better than that in the control group.(4)In the therapy group, the efficiency(100%) of patients in Qi-deficiency type was obviously better than that(80%) in Qi-Yin deficiency type. The efficiency of patients in Qi-deficiency type in the therapy group was obviously better than that in the same type in the control group.(5)The nutrition improved in the patients both in Qi-deficiency type and Qi-Yin deficiency type in the therapy group and was obviously better than that in the same types in the control group(P< 0.01).And in thetherapy group, the nutrition improved in Qi-deficiency type and was obviously better than that in Qi-Yin deficiency type(P<0.01).There were no differences in the two types in the control group(P>0.05). Conclusion:(1)After the treatment of Xiangshaliujun Wan,the effeciency on malnutrition in patients with CAPD was obviously better. And HGB, ALB, DEI, DPI, nPNA obviously improved.(2)The nutrition improved in the patients who had treated with Xiangshaliujun Wan therapy group and was obviosly better than that in the control group.(3) After treating with Xiangshaliujun Wan,the nutrition improved in the patients both in Qi-deficiency type and Qi-Yin deficiency type. And in the patients in Qi-deficiency type, the nutrition was obviously better than those in Qi-Yin deficiency type.(4)The comprehensive way that patients used Chinese herbs treating is better than the way that used western medicine only in CAPD.
