Objective and backgroud: The pathophsiological mechanism of tramatic brain edema involve the disorder of the microcoi rculation, dysautoregulation , resulting in the luxurype refusion of the brain tissue, injury of blood - brain - barrer (BBB).So it's key to improve blood fluidity , vasautoregulation. However,it's mainly aiming at symptom to give such treatmeant as:dehydrain, hormonoth erapy, calcium antagonists,etc. They are unfortunetly of no good effects. The traditional medicine consider the pathogenesis of brain edema is blood stasis, so the activating blood circulation to remove blood stasis is primary. Compared with the western medicine , it's a treatment aiming at the primary root cause of disease. The tradiontal medicine drugs including Danshen, honghua, sanqi have well been knowned , which have been used to treat brain edema, resulting in good effects. However experimental research is relatively little. The aim of this study is to evaluate the the therapeutid effects of the brain traumatic edema by integrated Traditional Chinese and Wester medicine treatment(ICWM) , to provide the scientific proof of the treatment of blood stasis syndrome in clinic. Methods: The model of rat cold-induced brain edema was prepared, then 130 wistar rats were divded into 6 groups radomly: A goup ( the normal control group),B group ( the operation group), C group (wester medicine treated group ,WM group ) and Chinese and wester medicine treament (ICW) treated group:D, E, F, group (WM+Salvia injection, WM+honghua in jection , WM+sanqi injection treated respectively), Neurological deficit score, whole blood viscosity , water content and even blues(EB) of brain tissues were evaluated, the pathologic changes of the brain were oberserved. Rusults: 1 The pathologic changes are observed in the B, C, D, E groups, but less than B groups ,especially the swelling and focal hemorrhages was less compared with B group. 2 Neurological deficit score of C, D, E, Fgroup was lower than that of B group (P<0.05 or P<0.01),but was insignificantly different among the C, D, E, F group (P>0.05). 3 Water content and EB of brain tissueslevels of C, D, E, F group were significantly lower than the B group (p<0.01), D, E, Fgroup was markedly lower than the C groups(p<0.01or p<0.05) 4 The whole blood viscosity of D, E, Fgroup was lower than that of B group(P<0.01 or P<0.05), but there was no signigificant diffence between B and C groups (P>0.05). Conclusion: 1 ICWM coud derease neurological fuction deficient caused by the brain edema, improve the neurological functional recovery. 2 ICWM coud drease the proficienc ,could induce Even blues(EB) of brain tissues and the water content of brain tissues,protect the BBB. 3 ICWM coud drease the proficienc , could improve the hemorrheological indexes(blood viscosity), it's may be the pharmacology of the drugs of the activating blood circulation to remove blood stasis which could effectively protect the traumatic brain edema. 4 Combined treatment of SmInjection or Hh , San qi injection , could rusut in a better therapeutic effect.
