| The genus Euphorbia (Euphorbiaceae) contains(?)r 2000 species widespread all over the world. There are more than 80 species in Chi(?) are still some novel species continuing beendiscovered nowadays. Though they have dif(?) shapes include annual weeds, succulents andtrees of very different appearance, but peop(?) find them easily because of their impressive characters, all of them produce characterist(?)ky-white latex. More over, Euphorbia species have diplex characters, one is that they got oxic(?) and can cause irritant on the skin, the other is that they can be used as medicine. Euph(?) bia sp(?)ies have been known to have the functions such as anti-nociceptive, plasmodicidal, an(?) arthritic and anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, anti-tumour and antiviral (include HIV) activitic , etc. In ancient China, people have used them for purge, diuresis, cure hydropsy, tubercul(?)s, dermatitis, acariasis, etc. ' Traditional Chinese Medicine Thesaurus' recorded 32 species. (?)hinese Herb Compile' also recorded 35species. Ancient people also had used them to produce c(?) rare. In South America and South-east Asia, people applied them for poison fish.In many cases the biologic activities of Euphorbia species are related to certain types of diterpenoids in their lat(?) t(?)dies also showed that several Euphorbia species also have molluscicidal properties. Scre(?) plant resources for their intrinsic molluscicidal properties, is an important preventive strategy in (?)he integrated schistosomiasis control program, especially in China. Because this method can not only make use of the abundance molluscicidal plant resources in our country, but also effectively reduce the environment pollution caused by applying chemical molluscicide. Nowadays, people have played havoc with the entironment, vector snails spread in wide area and the epidemic situation of schistosomiasis continuously rising. These circumstances made the government and scientists focus on this research area.In this dissertation, we reviewed the study in the genus Euphorbia in more than 20 years all over the world. Further more, we applied HS-SPME combined with GC-MS analyses techniques studied the latex of 20 Euphorbia species, checked the volatile and semi-volatile constituents in them. Compared the molluscicidal activities of 5 species commonly grow in UK and found two species with the potential of exploiture. After that, we studied the molluscicidal activity annual variation in leaves and stems of these two species. With these studies, we hope to develop some effective, low-toxicity, bio-degradable molluscicide from Euphorbia species and to find a new method for schistosomiasis control in China. |
