Bi Yuan Jing granule, which was made from Flos magnoliae, Fructus xanthium, Herba ephedrae, Radix angelicae dahuricae, Herba menthae, Radix scutellariae, Radix rehmanniae, Radix et rhizoma slviae miltionhizae, Poria, Radix et rhizoma glycyrrhizae, was an effective prescription of traditional Chinese medicine for treating allergic rhinitis and nasosinusitis.The author had made an experiment study on its preparation, quality standards and primary pharmacodynamics.1. Study on the preparationThe yield of volatile oil was used as an evaluating index to investigate the optimum preparing technology by the soaking time, extracting time and water supply volume with the method of orthogonal design, from the experiment, a optimum process was as follows: after being soaked for 3 hours, added 20 times water to be distilled by vapour for 4 hours; for other herbs, the optimum preparing method were determined on the investigation of soaking time, extracting time and water volume with the evaluating index of ephedrine content and extracting ratio gaining under the condition. In the first, the best extraction times was investigated by the single factors in the same extract time and added water, the result of the better method was three times; second, by the method of orthogonal design with the factors of soaking time, extracting time in each time, water volume and the herb size . the optimum process method was as follows: the herb size was decoction pieces, after been soking for 20 minutes, 12 times water was added and extracted 90 minutes,90 minutes and 60 minutes respectively.Then concentrated the extraction had not been refined. On the basis of these studies, we select the mixture of dextrin and saccharose as the excipients, the ratio of them was 1:1:3.2. Study on the quality standardFlos magnoliae, Herba ephedrae, Radix angelicae dahuricae and Radix scutellariae were indentified by TLC. For the assay of ephedrine, a new high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method was developed. The linearity range C10H15NO·HCl of was Y=2505.3X+15825, r=0.99991, The average recovery rate was 99.83%, RSD was 1.00%. The analytical method was validated in the research of the content.
