Objective To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of MRI(magnetic resonance imaging )for preoperative TNM staging of gastric neoplasma .Method With hypotonia and water filling, MRI examination was performed in 10 volunter and 35 cases of gastric neoplasma diagnosed by biopsy to operation. MR dynamic enhanced scan was applied These MR evaluation including MR-determined staging correlated with the surgicopathologic MR images were independently and prospectively reviewed by two experienced radiologists unaware of clinical and pathologic findings Statistic works were performed with KappaResults Two layers of the gastric wall were visible in one case . One layer of the gastric wall were visible in nine cases The gastric carcinoma showed middle-signal-intensity and irregular thickened wall in TIWI. According to histopathologic staging . The sensitivity for T-staging detected with MRI were 85.7% in T2. 75% in T3. 100% in T4. The specificity for T-staging detected with MRI were 91.3% in T2. 82.6% in T3. 100% in T4. The accuracy of MRI in N staging was 47.8%. The accuracy of MRI in M staging was 76.9%. Dynamic enhanced MRI was superior for TNM stagingConclusion MRI is superior in T-staging and M-staging. However, MRI has limitation in the evaluation of N-staging. |
