As a histamine H2-receptor antagonist,Roxatidine Aidcetate Hydrochlore(ROX) is ususlly used for the treatment of peptic ulcer disease.Based on the comprehensive research on the physico-chemical properties of ROX, UV spectrophotometry was developed for the studies of release, content and physico-chemical properties.Lactose and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose(HPMC) were used to make the tablet core and then coated with the moistureproof coating.The repetition of three batches was kind. The result of stability test showed that the ROX matrix tablets was stable when exposed to strong light(4500Lx) , high temperature(60℃) and high humidity(RH 92.5%) condition.To discover the drug release kinetcs from HPMC matrix tablets,experiments such as the release of ROX from the HPMC gel,the rate of water uptake by ROX matrix tablets,the polymer erosion rate and the swelling of matrix tablets were conducted with ROX matrix tablets.The purpose of this study was to develop a physically relalistic mathematical model,taking into account all the important processes .With the model ,the concentration profiles of both species,water and drug,can be calculated at any instant and the diffusivities can be calculated at any time and position.With the model ,further insight into the mass transfer mechanisms is achieved.
