Formaldehyde, acetaldehyde and acrolein are common aldehyde in the environment. The aldehyde is used as the raw material in the industries of the synthesis of Pharmaceuticals, the plastic, the dyestuff and the fibre, and as the disinfectant and the anliseptic in medicine and agriculture. The waste gas and the waste water containing aldehyde are discharged in the production and use of aldehyde , which can pollute the surroundings over certain concentration. The toxicity of aldehyde is mainly irritant to skin and mucositic. They also damage the central nervous system. Recently, researches have shown that aldehyde can cause cancer. The pollution of aldehyde in water not only effect the human health but also hinder the self-purification of organic compound in water. Therefore, it is very necessary to analyse aldehyde in water. As common pollutants, Formaldehyde, acetaldehyde and acrolein have been placed among the items of detection on toxic substances by Ministry of Health of the People's Republic of China in the book "Sanitary Standard for Drinking Water Quality" . Because the analytical methods provided in the book have lower sensitivity and can' t be used to detect the three compounds at the same time, author will develop a method with higher sensitivity and better reproducibility and accuracy in which the three compounds can be tetected simultaneously.
