There are two kinds of buckwheat,Fagopyrum Tataricum (Linn) Gaench and Fagopyrum esculentum Moench. Fagopytum.tartaricum belong to dicotyledons polygonaceae Fagupyrumesculentum plant. In this paper a new process for extracting and purifying the active fraction from tartary buckwheat was investigated. A new method to determine the content of the total flavonoids and rutin in tartary buckwheat was established, and the difference between the tartary buckwheats from varying areas was studied in quantify and quality. In order to optimize the process, several methods of extraction were first studied. The density of solvent; the ratio of material and solvent and the extract time and so on were tested, respectively. The optimum process parameter is 60% alcohol as solvent; the ratio of material and solvent 1:10; extracting three times with 2h for each time.In purifying technology study, the high-speed centrifugal technique was used. The corresponding parameter such as separate factor(α) ,centrifugal time, centrifugal temperature, density of liquid medicine were investigated, respectively. The optimum process parameter is at :temp. 10℃~25℃; density of liquid medicine, 1.004~1.008(15℃,the ratio of material and solvent was 1:4~1:6); Separate factor was 5000r/min; relative centrifugal force was 2152.2g/min; centrifugal time was15min.An UV method was established to determine the content of total flavonoids in tartary buckwheat and in its active fraction. A HPLC method was also established to determine the content of rutin in tartary buckwheat and in its active fraction. All these methods were proved to be accurate and feasible. In the qualitative study, the samples were discriminated by general TCL and microemulsion TLC, in the later Eurelon was used as absorbing material. The best mobile phase was the o/w microemulsion (containing 75% water ).The result indicated that microemulsionTLC was better than the general TLC.In the paper, the total flavonoids and rutin, a main active consituent from different areas were analysized by UV and HPLC methods, respectively. Valuable conclusion had been drawn and the difference about the content of total flavonoids and rutin was found in samples of different areas. The pharmacy tests were carried out with moisture absorption and fluidity as ??? in this article. Formulation process of capsule was also studied. Percentage of moisture absorption, Buik density, angle of repose and so on were investigated in order to provide a basis for the large scale production.
