Abstract/Summary:
Objective :To estimate the prevalence of urinary incontinence of female in Tai Yuan city and to assess risk factors for urinary incontinence and quality of patient's life by means of (1) questionnaire on urinary incontinence, (2) quantified description of dimensional orientation by POP-Q (Pelvic Organ Prolapse Quantification) stage system .Methods : Data were obtained by questionnaire survey from 744 women who resident (age≥18) in Tai Yuan. The questionnaires used were of symptoms of female urinary incontinence, including some questions: (1) UI suffering condition: age, inducing factors, accompanied symptoms and frequency and so on. (2) The effects on daily life of patients, the cognition and conditions of attending to hospital etc. (3) Risk factors for urinary incontinence: social demographic character (age, education, etc.), the life of style variables, factors associated with parturition, with medical diseases or not. (4) Relativity analysis between stress urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse. SPSS 11.0 was used in statistical analysis. Employing the x2 test to analyze the incidence of UI and composing ratios, Adopting univariate and multivariate Logistic regression analysis to calculate the odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(CI).Rs was used to analyze the relativity between UI and POP .Result :(1) The crude prevalence of urinary incontinence was 49.33%, in which stress type of UI accounted for 64.03 %, urgent type 11.99 %, mixed type 23.98 %. The incidence of initiative SUI, UUI and MUI occurred with before delivery accounts for 8.51%, 15.91% and 6.82% respectively; The incidence of initiative SUI, UUI and MUI occurred with in five years after delivery accounts for 56.17 %, 45.45 % and46.59 % respectively; The incidence of initiative SUI,UUI and MUI occurred with peirmenopausal period accounts for 17.02 % , 13.64 % and 25 % respectively; The incidence of initiative SUI,UUI and MUI occurred with after menopause accounts for 18.30 % , 25 % and 21.59 % respectively. There was not significantly difference about the onset time among SUI,UUI and MUI(χ2=8.316 ,P>0.05 )。(2) The most of people did not know UI, but only 16.35 % people had a little knowledge to it. 53.41 % women believed that it had caused social and hygiene problems, and 3.27 % patients once seek treatment. The reasons of not visiting doctors were related to shyness, lack of knowledge and believing it as normal phenomenon of ageing.(3) From univariate analysis, statistically significant risk factors for urinary incontinence included age , BMI, gestation ,delivery, menopause , costiveness and cardiovascular diseases et al. Multivariate results indicated that age (OR=1.307; 95%CI:1.102~1.550;p<0.01), delivery (OR=1.206; 95%CI:0.991~1.468;p<0.05),costiveness (OR=4.720;95%CI:2.395~9.299 ;p<0.01) were the high risk factors.(4) Patients of pelvic organ prolapse correlate to urinary incontinence accounts for...
