Objective: To explore the efficacy of "Four Gate" points electric-needling on migraine without aura. Methods: Under the random, contrast and single-blind research method, 72 cases were involved in this trial and divided randomly into two groups: Control group (treated with Flunarizine Hydrochloride Capsules orally) and treatment group (treated with Flunarizine Hydrochloride Capsules orally plus electric-needling on "Four Gate" points, 30min one time, 3 times a week) for 4 weeks. After treatments, the short-term effect were evaluated with times of attack, intensity of attack, duration, concomitant symptoms and VAS; the long-term effect were evaluated 3 months later with the same index. Results: There was no significance in contrast and treatment group from the baseline analysis. For the short-term effect, the total effective rates in treatment group (91.4%) were higher than that in contrast group (72.7%) significantly (P<0.05). Except for concomitant symptoms, times of attack, intensity of attack, duration, and VAS after the treatment were all decreased than before (P<0.05); For the long-term effect, the total effective rates in treatment group (81.8%) were higher than that in contrast group (51.7%) significantly (P<0.01). Except for times of attack and concomitant symptoms, intensity of attack, duration, and VAS in treatment group were all decreased than before after treatment (P<0.05). There were significant difference between treatment group and contrast group after treatment, the scores of symptoms (except times of attack and concomitant symptoms) and VAS in treatment group were decreased more than that in contrast group (P<0.01)Conclusions: The present trail indicates that both two methods have beneficial effect on migraine without aura. In addition, "Four Gate" points electric-needling plus oral Flunarizine Hydrochloride Capsules method was more helpful than Flunarizine Hydrochloride Capsules administration in both short and long-term effect and could decrease the incidence rate of side reaction of Flunarizine Hydrochloride Capsules.
