Reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatographic methods for the fingerprints of Folium Isatidis and Radix Isatidis and capillary electrophoresis (CE) method for the fingerprints of Folium Isatidis were investigated, which offered new methods on assessment of quality for both Folium Isatidis and Radix Isatidis.While we studied on the HPLC fingerprints, 29 co-possessing peaks were selected as the fingerprint peaks of Folium Isatidis and 21 co-possessing peaks were selected as the fingerprint peaks of Radix Isatidis. In both methods we chose uridine peak as the reference peak, and the fingerprints were evaluated by the chromatographic fingerprint index (F) and the relative index (Fr). Meanwhile, the methods of the quantitative determinations of cytidin, uridine, guanosine 4(3H)-quinazolinone in Folium Isatidis and adenosine, uridine, 4(3H)-quinazolinone in Radix Isatidis were developed.18 co-possessing peaks were selected as the fingerprint peaks of Folium Isatidis in the CEFP and the similarities between the chromatographic fingerprints of the herbal drugs were calculated by taking cytidin peak as the reference peak, and the fingerprints were also evaluated by the chromatographic fingerprint index (F) and the relative index (Fr).The correlation between the HPLC fingerprints of Folium Isatidis and Radix Isatidis was studied in the same conditions; meanwhile, IR fingerprints of the two were also studied, which showed obviously characteristic and reproducibility.The anti-endotoxin activity of Folium Isatidis and Radix Isatidis was investigated in this dissertation. There were significant differences of anti-endotoxin activity among different batches of herbal drugs, but no obvious differences between Folium Isatidis and Radix Isatidis.
