MATERIALS AND METHODS:1. Various adhesives on the shear bonding strength of ceramic brackets to porcelain: 40 disc shaped porcelain specimens were divided randomly into four groups according to different adhesive material: The Jing-jin enamel adhesive,light-cured composite resin, 3M ESPE adhesive and Bisco ortho-one orthodontic direct bonding system. 9.6% hydrofluoric combined with silane.2. Various adhesives on the shear bonding strength of ceramic brackets to Light-cured composite resin: 40 resin facets were divided randomly into four groups according to different adhesive material: The Jing-jin enamel adhesive,light-cured composite resin, 3M ESPE adhesive and Bisco ortho-one orthodontic direct bonding system. sandblasting with 50μAl2O3 particles combined with silane. The samples were stored in 37℃water 24h, thermocycled 10000 times from 50℃to 55℃.The shear bonding strength was measured and bond failure sites were classified according to Adhesive Remnant Index system.RESULTS:1. The highest values were obtained with 3M ESPE adhesive, but the Jing-jin enamel adhesive can not provide adequate shear bonding strength to porcelain. 2. The highest values were obtained with Bisco ortho-one orthodontic direct bonding system, but the Jing-jin enamel adhesive and light-cured composite resin can not provide adequate shear bonding strength to porcelain.CONCLUSION: To porcelain the highest values were obtained with 3M ESPE adhesive combined with 9.6% hydrofluoric combined with silane. To light-cured composite resin the highest values were obtained with Bisco ortho-one orthodontic direct bonding system combined with sandblasting with 50μAl2O3 particles combined with silane.
