Part I The changes of serum ferritin level in Ischemic Cerebrovascular Disease (ICD) patients, and the influence on the degree of neurological deficits. Objective To observe and analyze the serum ferritin(SF) level in patients with ICD, evaluate the degree of neurological deficits, Explore the correlation between SF concentration and ICD.Methods According to the selected conditions,115 patients with the first ever acute ischemic stroke and been confirmed by cranial MRI examination, were selected as experimental group, and 37 persons without acute ischemic cerebrovascular disease were selected as control group. Using RIA method to determine the peripheral blood SF level of all the research objects. To evaluate their neurological deficits, using NIHSS scale.Results①SF levels of peripheral blood in patients with acute ischemic stroke were significantly higher than the control group (P<0.01).②SF levels was positively correlated with neurological deficit in patients with acute ischemic stroke (r=0.7836, P<0.001), and negatively correlated with neurological deficit improving after the treatment(R2=0.6125).Conclusions SF level and incidence of ICD was associated, it was positively correlated with neurological deficit in patients with acute ischemic stroke. High levels of SF may be one of the risk factors in the formation and development of ICD.Objective To bserve carotid atherosclerosis and its serum ferritin (SF) level in the patients with ischemic stroke, Study the relationship between SF level and carotid artery atherosclerosis, so as the carotid artery atherosclerotic plaque stability. Methods Using the same conditions of the first part,115 patients with the first ever acute ischemic stroke and been confirmed by cranial MRI examination, were selected as experimental group. All patients were treated with bilateral carotid artery ultrasound examination. To detect the carotid artery-medial thickness (IMT) and the plaques. To accumulate both sides Crouse score of the plaques and reflect the variation of plaques. The plaques were divided into stable plaque and unstable plaque. Based on test results, subjects, were divided into normal carotid artery group (A group), IMT thickening of cerebral infarction group(B group), stable plaque cerebral infarction group(C group) and unstable plaque cerebral infarction group(D group), using RIA method to determine the SF level of all the research objects.Results①the level of SF in A group was significantly lower than the other three groups(P<0.01);②SF levels in patients with plaque cerebral infarction group(C,D group) were significantly higher than B group (P<0.05):③peripheral blood SF of C group is higher than in D group (P<0.01).Conclusions SF levels are closely related to carotid atherosclerosis in patients with ICD, and show a positive correlation with plaque stability. SF levels may be regarded as a predictor of the stability of carotid plaque.
