Part I Anatomic structure characters of pulmonary vein in patients who need ablation of atrial fibrillationObjective Quantitatively analyze the diameter and shape of pulmonary vein, in order to investigate the anatomic structure characters of pulmonary veins. Methods Collected the imaging information of atrial fibrillation. Based on the diameters and variations of pulmonary veins measured by enhanced spiral coronary CT, using statistical methods such as t-testing and ANOVA, analyses the structure characters of pulmonary vein in atrial fibrillation patients. Results Diameter of pulmonary vein (PV) was measured by PV angiography in all these 267patients. The mean diameters of left superior PV, left inferior PV, right superior PV and right superior PV were 17.3±3.0mm,14.2±2.9mm,17.3±3.7mm, 15.2±3.1mm, and the mean diameter of left atrial was 41.1±5.9mm. The diameter of PV were different (P<0.05) between male and female, the PV diameter between paroxysm atrial fibrillation and persistent atrial fibrillation were no different (P>0.05), and the PV diameter of patients in different age are also no different (P>0.05).Conclusion The type and the course of atrial fibrillation were no related to the diameter of pulmonary vein in the patients who need ablation.Part II Predictors of the recurrence of atrial tachyarrhythm after radiofrequency catheter ablation of atrial fibrillationObjective To investigate the correlation factors of atria fibrillation recurrence after ablation, and to analysis whether the correlated factors are important for anticipating the recurrence of the atrail fibrillation, in order to get more messages about how to choose the ablation patients. Methods Collected the clinical and electrophysiology information of atrial fibrillation patients without organic and congenital heart disease from January 2007 to march 2009, the information included age, sexuality, accompanied disease, course of disease and medicine used before ablation, modus operandi, imaging diagnosis such as pulmonary vein computed tomography and echocardiography. Then followed up these patients, got messages about the status of patients after ablation, the recurrence time and recurrence type of arrhythmia and medicine taken after ablation, then describing the statistical disposition of the information, using statistical methods such as survival analysis and COX regression analysis, analyses the relationship between the factors and the recurrence after ablation of atrial fibrillation. Results Diameter of pulmonary vein (PV) was measured by PV angiography in all these 267patients. Survival analysis showed that the type, the course, and the diameters of PV and left atrial were possibly related (P<0.05) to the recurrence of atrial fibrillation, and multivariable analysis revealed only the type and the course of atrial fibrillation were the independent risk factors (P<0.05) responsible for the recurrence of atrial fibrillation. Conclusions The type and the course of atrial fibrillation were the independent risk factors responsible for the recurrence, and the diameters of PVs and left atrial were possibly related to the recurrence.
