Zhang Han, a writer in Ming Dynasty, was born in an official's family and had a successful career at his early age. He became famous for writing poetry at his 20s. Having been the candidate at the province level for seven times, Zhang Han eventually settled down in his hometown, YongChang, Yunnan, and devoted all his life to writing poems and spreading culture. His 875 poems and 39 essays are included in Yongchang Wenzhenlu. His works has attained a high position, therefore, he ranked second after Yang Yiqing in Yunnan literary world. Zhang Han had evolved his personal thoughts and view about poem and formed his own style after many years of writing.Zhang Han was once apprenticed to a great master, Li Mengyang and was the best friends of He Jinming and Yangshen, who advocated of restoring what. was ancient in the literature. Influenced by them, he not only followed the tendency towards following the ancient masters but also made significant breakthroughs and innovations, showed his own opinions in his poems. In terms of the essence of the poem, he thought the soul is more important, and he paid close attention to the inner charm of poems. In terms of creation, he discussed the relationship between the writer's personal characteristic and poetry writing, meanwhile he advocated that poems should show some deep and true emotions. As for appreciation and criticism, he thought writers must obey the principle that rigorousness is more important than spreading. In seeking the new, Zhang Han endeavored to change, to develop, and to improve to achieve perfection., which not only enriched the creation of local poetry writing and promoted the interaction between regions, but also gave a boost to the culture hybrid between Baoshan and Central Plains.In the article, the author will first analyze Zhang Han's poems in Yongchang Wenzhenlu, from the point of tradition and region, literature and creation, and communication and characters. Second this article will give a summary of Zhang Han's opinion and theory in poetry, show how he formed his style in poetry and the important influence he had in the literature in Yongchang, even in Yunnan. This study is undertaken to let more people know the important role Zhang Han played in Yongchang and Yunnan Literature, as well as helping people know the prosperity of Yunnan literature in Ming Dynasty and the overall literature in the middle of the Ming Dynasty.
