Material is the basis of our creation of artworks. As times change, art forms are changing all the time with the new materials and concepts stepping in. The unique aesthetic value of materials is revealed with the detachment of coloring and modeling. The expressive force of various materials and the value of spirit inspired by a variety of association and suggestion make artists pay more attention to materials themselves. And materials have been turned into principal subject in their artworks, not only just for satisfaction of the function of representing, rust proofing, good looking and longer lasting. With the development of China's economy and blending of Chinese and western culture, most Chinese artists in the cultural transition show their cultural confusion and uncertainty, and thus seek the corresponding power of speech and status as a kind of internal demand. Following the impact of global context, Chinese modern artists must stop blindly following the westerns to build their own art style with independent internal spirit and expressive form. By relying on Chinese traditional culture spirit and using the originative procedure to create their art works, they will be able to shape their unique art forms. As the embodiment of core values of Chinese traditional painting, "artistic conception" forms an inevitable base for Chinese modern art and is also suitable for materials to express. Using the language of material to restate traditional thoughts and to rebuild traditional artistic conception is modern art. Under the guidance of the thought above, the writer explored and created his art works, together with his own interpretation on them.
