Chen Zi-ang, regarded as a literary genius by Du Fu, was an important figure in the history of transition from early Tang dynasty to the prosperous Tang. Songs of Ascending You Zhou Tower written by him became bards sublime. A mighty sense of loneliness from his deep inside was the core of his affectionate world. Why the sense of loneliness was so attractive in Chen Zi-ang's poetries?Based on the life and family of Chen Zi-ang, this article mainly analyses the development of his loneliness in his poetries and the unique charms in Songs of Ascending You Zhou Tower, thereby to recognize the artistic charms in Chen Zi-ang's poetries from the following three aspects:the blending of sense of misery and sense of loneliness; individual loneliness sublimating to philosophical height; and the unique ways of casting off his loneliness. In order to interprete the causes of the sense of loneliness in Chen Zi-ang's life, this paper also analyses his ideological consciousness and the features of the era he was in from both internal and external aspects. In this way, the influence of his sense of loneliness on Chinese ancient literature, especially on tang poetries will be identified on the basis of understanding his sense of loneliness.
