During the development of European vocal music, the period of classical vocal music was the most rapid and matured stage. There were Gluck, Mozart, Beethoven and other excellent musicians, who composed glorious music for mankind, including some of the vocal tracks made compulsory in our study. Therefore, vocal arts of these two periods are of great historical significance and study value. This paper will take the Western Emotional Music Aesthetics as a theoretical starting point, and study the European aesthetic characteristics of classical vocal music as deep as possible.Emotional Music Aesthetics is an aesthetic philosophy regarding human being's emotion as the essence of music within the field of western musical philosophy and aesthetics. It exists throughout every period of western musical development, especially the classical times, posing a profound guiding significance in the emotional expression of vocal arts.Vocal arts is one of the subjects which can best express human beings' emotion. And the very starting point and purpose of vocal arts is emotional vocal performance,As vocal-performing and educational-oriented graduates, we often select classical European vocal music for study and practise. However, we tend to focus on the techniques in singing, and ignore the emotional expression of the music. In order to get a full understanding of musical expression, we need to fully dip ourselves into the music and know about its composing background, creation purpose, etc. We even need to study the music from the deep aesthetics perspective .Thus we can achieve a thorough expression of the music. Therefore, I will take the Western aesthetic emotion as the theoretical starting point, and study the European aesthetic characteristics of classical vocal music as deep as possible, to find out graphic details and influence that Emotional Music Aesthetics has posed on the development of this period. Consequently, we can get a theoretical guidance of vocal music education and the control of our emotions while performing. This can be of great help in our learning and performing of music, which can make our study and practice more effective.
