This is a case study of historical rural geography. The main content is about the geographical history of an ancient village called Fengnan which is located on the plain of Fengle River in western area of Shexian of Anhui province. This paper argues that the core issue of Historical Rural Geography is Man-land relationship in rural area. This relationship has both objective and subjective sides reflecting two levels of geography:geographical facts and geographical significance.According to this idea, based on relevant literature and field investigation results, part one attempts to recover the micro-geographical history of Fengnan village containing Mountains, Water, Land use,Settlement, Architecture, to understand the landscape changes under the local social background and to analyze it with the method of Landscape. From the perspective of humanistic geography, part two focuses on villagers' perceptions and feelings about their motherland, on the geographical significance of small Place names, Boundaries, FengShui, Folk beliefs and Eight Landscape.
