Bewildering Fragments Of Images

Looking around the global films in 1980s, there were many outstanding films and actors in Chinese language film industry. Wong Kar-wai is one of them, whom has his own style of making film and was always in the spotlight. In this paper, ten self-directed and performed films of Wong Kar-wai were thoroughly analyzed through comparison and analysis. The analysis was starting from discussion about Wong Kar-wai himself, and then move into the detailed analysis in filming, audio recording, and storytelling in his films. In order to conclusively reveal the special style of his films, this paper also analyzes aesthetics and underneath philosophy of his films.The framework of this paper is as follows:Firstly, the paper discusses the rational and reason of the topic selection. And the paper states the research methodologies which are derived from analysis in previous researches. Secondly, the paper briefly summaries Wong Kar-wai's personal experiences and analyzes his working team. Also the paper introduces Wong Kar-wai's ten films in this part. Thirdly, through analyzing the filming techniques of screen language, for example, position of camera, structuring of screen, using of lights and colours, the paper concludes Wong Kar-wai's special methods of filming. Fourthly, the paper summarises the Wong Kar-wai's audio presenting by analyzing the dialogs, aside, background music and sound in his ten films. Fifthly, the paper overviews all the films of Wong Kar-wai and abstracts the main topic and storyline.Wong Kar-wai's films are like impressionistic painting with sort of particular lighting pattern in some practical moment, which are likely to show a subjective and momentary impression of the painter. In addition, his films not only tell the different stories but also painted a colour picture of our deep understanding of life. He successfully created "Wong Kar-wai Style" by using his special way of presenting screens and post-modern way of expressing his idea. This unique style makes Wong Kar-wai's films prominent and worth us to analyze in detail.
